The **Bark River Aurora** was developed as the ultimate bushcraft knife. Prototypes of the Aurora were extensively tested by bushcraft experts in North America and Europe. The Aurora was then perfected based on their feedback. The result is a truly fantastic outdoor knife. The Bark River Aurora is perfectly balanced. Its pointed tip is great for detailed tasks and the spine of the blade is perfect for use with a firesteel.
The blade is made from A2 tool steel, a strong steel that would rather bend than break. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: A2 is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean it after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).
The handle is made of canvas micarta, which is a strong and lightweight material made from linen and synthetic resin. It feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold conditions.
The Bark River Aurora comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it either upright (belt width up to 5.5 cm) or diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm). The sheath also has a loop for a firesteel (max. diameter ~7.0 mm).
Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos. Therefore the knife you receive might be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
