The **ESEE Laser Strike** is a brother of the Model 4. Slightly bigger to make sure your hand has a little more room. The blade is made from 1095 carbon steel. The extremely sustainable powder coating on the blade protects it from the increased corrosion sensitivity of the carbon steel. The wonderful usage qualities of the steel guarantee a lifetime of fun. The full tang blade is enhanced with a micarta handle. The handle feels slightly coarse which is great for grip and comfort.
The handle is enhanced with a curve for your index finger. This knife feels so amazing in hand it makes you wonder why other knives sometimes need an entire row of curves. The heel of the blade also has one of these curves. If you put your index finger in that curve you can place your thumb on the blade. The ridges on top are in just the right place for your thumb. As a result you will have a lot of control over the knife which is great, for instance, when preparing food. On the inside of the handle the Laser Strike shows its true ‘survival’ colours: It contains a firestarter. Not quickly accessible, but indispensable in case of an emergency. You can use a ring on the sheath to looseen the handle. You could, however, also use a multi-tool.
The handle contains a ‘bow drill divot’. You use this bow drill divot to create a fire by quickly turning a wooden stick with the help of a bow on a wooden surface with slightly flammable material. It is the most basic way of making a fire, but it could work surprisingly well. In each case you can say that with the Model 5 you will be ready for anything.
The Laser Strike comes with a kydex sheath. The knife, however, also comes with a removable plastic sheet with steel belt clip. Perhaps mere details, but a good sheath contributes to the ease of use. With the Laser Strike this is well taken care of.
