The **Bark River Gunny Hunter** is a compacter version of the Bravo 1. Originally this knife was designed for (para)military use. Soon, however, it became evident that this knife was capable of a whole lot more. Today the Gunny is a popular knife amongst bushcraft enthusiasts and hunters. It is solidly constructed with enough blade thickness for the more demanding tasks. At the same time it is light enough for hikes. A perfect knife that can be used for many purposes. This special Hunter version of the Gunny is enhanced with a *Saber grind*. This means the grind is different from the one on the regular Gunny. The Hunter is slightly thinner behind the edge and therefore better suited for camping tasks and hunting purposes. The Gunny Hunter also doesn’t have jimping or a *thumb ramp*.
The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won’t break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).
The handle is made from canvas micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances. Red liners were placed in between the scales and the tang. A very nice detail which is in great contrast with the rest of the knife.
The Bark River Gunny Hunter comes with a leather belt sheath (max. belt width 5.0 cm).
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
