The **Nontron Traditional bread knife** is a stunning French tool. This bread knife is enhanced with a 20 cm blade and large serrations. With this bread knife you can easily cut through the hardest pieces of bread!
## Nontron Traditional
Nontron knives carry the name of the village where the knives have been made by hand ever since the Middle Ages. Coutellerie Nontronnaise, the company that produces the Nontron knives today, can also be found in this historic French village.
## The Handle
The handle is made from box wood. This wood comes from French soil and is left to dry for 4 years before it is used. The wood is enhanced with reversed V-symbols. Nontron knives can be recognized by the reversed V-symbol in the blade, but you can often also find this symbol in the handle. Burned in the wooden handle with the help of pyrography. This is still mostly done by hand. As such each handle, and each Nontron knife, will be unique! We, unfortunately, do not know the meaning behind these symbols. Are they religious? Do they refer to the compass of the Compagnons du Devoir? Regardless of its historical significance, the charm of a Nontron knife is absolutely timeless!
## The blade
The blade is made from Z40C13 stainless steel. This is a French type of steel that is not prone to rust and easy to sharpen. Each blade is enhanced with the V-shaped symbol and sharpened and finished by hand.
