The **Bark River Bravo 3 Black Canvas Micarta** is a large fixed knife. The Bravo 3 knives are a part of Bark River’s largest knives they have introduced so far. Designed for those who need to find their way through dense vegetation and want to use the same tool to turn a tree into small kindling.
This Bark River Bravo 3 is enhanced with a black micarta handle. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances.
## Bark River Bravo 3 blade made from CPM 3V steel
Because of the thick and long blade the knife is relatively heavy. As such you can easily cut smaller trees in half or produce kindling for a fire. A cut-out in the bolster ensures that you can hold the knife close to the edge. As such you have a lot of control over the knife. Despite the thickness of the blade this cut-out and the length of the edge ensure that this knife is also amazing to use. Think of cutting through a piece of rope, skinning an animal, creating feather sticks, and even coarsely chopping meat and vegetables for a nice outdoor meal. On the spine of the blade you find the so-called ramp. This is a small protrusion with serrations on one side. As such it is easier to apply force during the more detailed tasks.
The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A type of tool steel known for its exceptional strength. As such it won’t break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has a convex grind. Read more about [sharpening and maintaining a convex sharpened knife here](/en/ct/how-to-convex-sharpening.htm).
