The **Laguiole en Aubrac 12 cm Balbach damast, Thuya wood** is a modern incarnation of the classic Laguiole knife. A thuya-wood handle in between steel bolsters. On the spine, you will find a stylized version of the Laguiole bee. The most striking is the blade itself. It is namely made from stainless Balbach damascus steel. This gives the knife a unique look and feel. Balbach damascus steel is forged in Germany by Markus Balbach.
You open this Laguiole knife with two hands. In open state, a slip joint holds the blade in place. This is not an absolute lock, it only offers resistance to folding. When folding it is important to carefully lower the blade into the handle. Collapsing ensures that the blade touches the inside of the handle, which is a shame for its sharpness.
The Laguiole en Aubrac knives are made with love. This classic French pocket knife naturally has the characteristic little bee in the handle. The handmade pocket knife looks slim. Because of the manual labour and the natural materials used each pocket knife is unique.
Be aware of the fact that materials such as wood have a natural variation. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same. As such all knives are unique. This is also what makes them so special.
